David’s portrait will enter the permanent collections of London’s historical National Portrait Gallery alongside some of the most key black and British figures in the UK who took part in the acclaimed BBC documentary Black is the New Black. In 2015, David Harewood became part of the Warner Bros. and DC Comics family playing Hank Henshaw – Director of the DEO – in the new hit TV series Supergirl.

A week before filming began, it was revealed to David that his role would also evolve in to the Martian Manhunter aka J’onn J’onzz. This is the first time the much loved character has been seen in all his glory, making David an integral part of DC history.

When the reveal episode titled ‘Human for a Day’ was aired David told press, “I spent three weeks just reading Martian Manhunter comics. I couldn’t wait to play him. It’s been a real honour and a privilege.” The episode was noted as one of the darker, deeper and more emotional episodes of the series with fans worldwide reacting with only positivity and excitement for all that was and is to come.

David is currently in Vancouver filming Season 3, which airs on the CW every Monday at 8pm and on Sky One in the UK every Monday at 8pm.
